Stunning Colors and Patterns Are Essential for High-End Home Design
If you want to add instant wow to your room, pick a color and go with it. To layer in some va-va-voom, select patterns and work them into the design. Colors are associated with emotions and help transform a room into something special. Patterns add movement and artistic flair to create a feel that is unique to your style.
Here are three reasons to introduce both elements into your home…
1. Bring Emotion, Liveliness & Energy to Your Place
I use interior design to help clients transform their homes to fit their ideal lives. If they want a calming retreat, I'll look at soft colors that suggest peacefulness. If a client wants an invigorating environment, we'll look at more vivid hues that get a positive reaction.
It's essential to take the time to study color combinations that will inspire the energy that's right for the function of the space.
2. Add Focal Points & Personality to Your Home
I love to create rooms that offer a lot of visual interest. It could be subtle textures and shape changes that make a relaxing environment. More dramatic patterns could draw the eye around the room, looking for more surprises in each vignette.
3. Blend Styles Harmoniously & Balance Your Space
Patterns, colors, and textures can achieve these visual tricks in both understated and extreme styles. I like to encourage the use of colors to either set a room apart from the rest (a jewel box powder room or a specific person's private room) or provide continuity throughout the public spaces of a home. I suggest patterns to work with a client's personality and lifestyle interests.
Before I pull together any design options, I take the time to meet with each client and talk about their interior goals and how they intend to use each space. The information I gain from this pre-design meeting helps me decide how much color and pattern I want to incorporate into the design. I also want to find out how comfortable the client is with color, types of patterns, and materials so that when I pull options together, I know what's going to be appropriate.
